RAPID3: track your disease activity

RAPID3 (Routine Assessment of Patient Index Data 3) is a quick, patient-reported measure of how active your rheumatoid arthritis is. It has three parts: how much difficulty you have with everyday activities, your pain, and how you are doing overall. It needs no joint examination or blood tests and takes under a minute. Complete it, save your result to track it over time, and print it for your appointment.

iAnswer for the past week. For the activities, answer without help from another person. This tool runs entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is saved to a server or sent anywhere. Saving stores your result only in this browser, on this device.

About the score. RAPID3 runs from 0 to 30, where a higher number means more active disease from your point of view. It reflects how you are feeling and functioning, not the joint examination or blood tests, so your team will read it alongside those. Any single score is one data point for a conversation, not a diagnosis or a treatment decision on its own. Pain, low mood, fatigue, and other conditions can all raise the score without meaning the arthritis itself is more active.

How the score is worked out

The 10 activity answers (each 0 to 3) are added up and divided by 3 to give a function score out of 10. That is added to your pain score (0 to 10) and your overall score (0 to 10), giving a total out of 30. As a guide, 0 to 3 is near remission, 3.1 to 6 is low activity, 6.1 to 12 is moderate activity, and above 12 is high activity.
