Program Director, U of T Rheumatology · Division Head, St. Michael's

Associate Professor in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Toronto, Program Director for Adult Rheumatology at U of T, and Division Head of Rheumatology at St. Michael's Hospital. She completed medical school and rheumatology residency at U of T, then advanced training in rheumatic disease in pregnancy, and founded and directs the Rheumatic Diseases and Pregnancy Clinic at St. Michael's. Her clinical research in pregnancy and rheumatic disease has been presented nationally and internationally. An award-winning educator: the CRA Emerging Teacher-Educator of the Year, the U of T William Goldie Prize for Excellence in Medical Education, and the U of T Dr. Robert Sargeant Post-graduate Education Award. She co-chairs the CRA Postgraduate Education subcommittee, co-leads the CRA National Immunology Working Group, sits on the Royal College Rheumatology Specialty Committee, and is Education Lead for the U of T Division of Rheumatology.

Advanced Practice Physiotherapist · Allied health

An ACPAC-trained Advanced Practice Physiotherapist at the Martin Family Arthritis Care and Research Centre, St. Michael's Hospital, with nearly three decades in rheumatology care. His clinical focus is seronegative spondyloarthritis, early inflammatory arthritis, and inflammatory muscle disease. He helped build the Myositis Clinic, setting up its clinical pathways and standardized assessments, and helped launch rapid-access lupus and spondyloarthritis clinics. Alongside patient care, he leads professional education and training for allied health professionals and ACPAC trainees, and co-founded RheumAcademy, Canada's rheumatology education platform for allied health, and Arthros, a clinician-built virtual-care platform for rheumatology. Much of his work centres on building healthcare capacity and knowledge in inflammatory arthritis across the disease spectrum. He lectures across North America, is a full member of the SPARTAN Association, and holds Clinical Lecturer status at the University of Toronto. B.Sc.(PT), U of T, 1998; MBA, 2007.

Advanced Practice Physiotherapist · Allied health

An Advanced Practice Physiotherapist at St. Michael's Hospital with over three decades in rehabilitation and patient care, spent entirely at St. Michael's: a physiotherapist from 1987 and in the advanced-practice role since 2006. She held Lecturer status in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto from 2013 to 2016 and has received several U of T Physical Therapy Recognition Awards. She holds a Master of Rehabilitation Science from UBC (2010) and a B.Sc.(PT) from U of T (1987), and completed the ACPAC Program through U of T and St. Michael's in 2006. Her work has been recognized with St. Michael's Leadership and Quality Improvement Award and the Health Disciplines Interprofessional Collaboration Award.

iThe wider allied-health team (pelvic health, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and nursing) supports the clinics; members and bios are added at intake. Dr. Mahendira is the sole clinical sign-off for the site.
